Passion. Heartbreak. Hope.

Experience the captivating, remarkable story of the groundbreaking and multi-faceted artist Clara Schumann in a staged journey through her life and relationships with Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

Clara Schumann was many things to many people: child prodigy, celebrity concert pianist, willful daughter, loving wife and mother, caretaker, intimate confidant, serious composer.   Loving Clara Schumann explores Clara's complex life and relationships in a musical tapestry woven of instrumental and vocal compositions by Clara, Robert and Brahms.

A multi-disciplinary program, Clara is represented by three separate female performers: a pianist, a singer and a dancer; while the men are represented by two male performers: a singer and a dancer.  The work also features orchestra and video installation.

Throughout we seek to understand the personal forces that shaped, confined and ultimately honed one of the most luminous musical personalities of the Romantic era.
