Gilles Plante

Hurdy Gurdy & Recorder
A French Baroque Christmas

Born in Montreal, Gilles Plante started his musical career as a recorder player, developing an interest in early music.  In 1967, he founded an early music group called Ensemble Claude-Gervaise.  The Ensemble, active now for fifty years, has traveled around the world playing Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music on period instruments and has created a discography of over a dozen critically-acclaimed titles. Gilles is also a highly-respected lecturer on early music and instruments and has lately specialized in the music played in Nouvelle-France in the XVIIth and XVIIIth century.
