Our passion and our music started here, in Houston.
Mercury was started by four friends in the year 2000 as an intimate chamber ensemble with the goal to enrich and entertain Houston audiences with an exciting repertoire of music performed on period instruments.
What began as a grassroots effort over lunch at a local restaurant has blossomed into a lively chamber orchestra beloved by the community. In 2013, Mercury rebranded and expanded its repertoire to include works outside of the Baroque period. In this evolution, the goal remains the same—bringing music to life and to people across Houston and beyond.
Mercury continues to receive critical and audience acclaim for innovative and welcoming performances, while also impacting the lives of young Houstonians through award-winning music education programs.
To serve the community by celebrating the power of music—Baroque and beyond—through teaching, sharing and performing with passion, intimacy and excellence.
Over 50 vibrant performances annually
Accessible + Welcoming
Our audiences become an essential part of a live Mercury performance. The energy you share with the musicians on stage is what makes for an unforgettable and intimate experience.
From purchasing tickets, to arriving at the venue -- each with a distinct vibe -- to Antoine's passionate introduction of the music, to the world-class performance by our musicians, we strive to provide a friendly, memorable experience.

Innovation + Excellence
Mercury creates distinctive concerts. By standing while performing, Mercury musicians bring an unparalleled energy to the stage.
Through the integration of multi-media, unique dance, costume and narrative elements Mercury is redefining the orchestra experience. In recent seasons, Mercury has presented crowd-pleasing original productions such as The Crimson Prince, Bach & Piazzolla, and Xtreme Baroque! The 2017-2018 season features the highly-anticipated Vivaldi's Four Seasons multi-media event and a collaboration with director Tara Faircloth, Loving Clara Schumann, on one of the most important female composers of classical music.
