Based on a medieval poem honoring the suffering of Mary, the Stabat Mater pulls at listeners’ innermost heartstrings through operatic expressivity. It’s a masterpiece of sacred music and the most frequently printed single work in the 18th century. Paired with favorite arias and duets from Handel’s beloved operas, this concert is not to be missed.

This concert is part of the 2018 Houston Early Music Festival and is made possible in part by the Houston Endowment and the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
